Welcome! I’m Lamees.
I’m so glad you’re here. I know just how challenging the therapy search can be and I honor you for taking this step. I’d love the opportunity to learn more about you and how I might be able to offer support.
I believe in liberation for all parts of our stories and in all intersections of existence.
In the therapeutic space, you are safe to exhale and release. I invite all parts of you to be seen and nurtured with warmth and empathy. Together, we will explore the ways you feel stuck with curiosity and compassion.
I am LGBTQ+ affirming, a committed ally of Black and Indigenous Peoples, respectful of all spiritual paths, and an advocate for body acceptance. I utilize a multicultural lens, always working to dismantle biases within myself and doing my own healing work as part of my commitment of safety and care to you, me, and the collective.
An intersectional identity I carry with me into the room is that I am a “third culture” woman—having been raised by Syrian immigrants in the American South. As you might imagine, many overlapping narratives were formed here. I welcome any inquiries you have about me to allow you to feel most comfortable in our shared space.
Clinical Focus & Background
I work primarily with adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relational dynamics, and identity exploration. Whatever you are facing, I am here to help. I aim to cultivate a space for emotional wellness using mind-body practices where you are empowered to connect to your own inner strength and wisdom.
I am trained in a Systemic Narrative Framework: an approach to therapy where we explore the stories which keep you stuck and work from a systemic perspective to identify where they came from and how you can move forward with re-authored narratives more aligned with who you are and desire to be.
I also integrate Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing approaches. I draw from the wisdom of Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and am positioned with a Humanistic lens. I am familiar with the Enneagram and enjoy using this tool to support our work together.
As a former public school educator, I am deeply familiar with burnout. I worked as a high school graduation coach, middle school teacher, and educational policy advocate before pursuing therapy as a career. I hold a B.S. degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College & State University, an M.S. degree from Georgia State University in Social Foundations of Education, and an M.A. degree from National University in Marriage & Family Therapy. I remain a lifelong learner and lover of deep knowledge.
I am a pre-licensed therapist. I practice under the supervision and clinical direction of Dr. Tequilla Hill, LMFT, RYT.
“If you want to decipher who you are, it’s good to begin with the question of what stories have been told about you. Do this not because they are true, but because they will help you to locate the mirages and their origins. They will help you to render mask from flesh. They may also help you grab hold of something real.”
— Cole Arthur Riley in her book This Here Flesh; Spirituality, Liberation, and the Stories That Make Us
